Graduated
Compression is the essential element featured in all of our hosiery.
Graduated Compression is applied to the garment in the knitting process,
by a mixture of two-way stretch yarns, spandex and Lycra®, making
all our products Latex Free. Knitted with precise computerized knitting
machines. The graduation is knit-in so that the strongest pressure
is applied at the foot and ankle and sequentially lessens up the leg
of the garment. This graduated pressure assists the blood flow from
the lower extremities back to the heart supporting the valves in the
leg veins, helping to prevent and relieve poor circulation, varicose
veins, leg fatigue, swelling in the ankle, and other venous disorders.
There are several levels of Graduated Compression,
mild, moderate, firm, and extra firm, all measured in millimeters
of mercury (mmHg). On each style of Fit Therapy products you
will notice a compression range (ie. 15-18mmHg), the 15-18 represents
the compression at the strongest part being the ankle. We offer a
complete collection of hosiery starting at 12mmHg, 15-18mmhg, 20-30mmHg
and the highest being 30-40mmHg usually recommended by a physician. Fit Therapy offers the largest selection of
compression levels, styles, sizes and colors to fit your needs.
If you are not sure which compression level is best for you, you may

highly trained customer service representatives will assist you.

Fit
Therapy™
Graduated Compression Hosiery, is designed to apply the greatest pressure
to the surface veins, thus forcing more blood to flow into the deeper
veins. It has been medically proven that applying graduated compression
to the lower extremities increases and improves blood circulation back
to the heart. This enhanced blood circulation helps to prevent and relieve
the discomfort and pain associated with varicose veins, leg fatigue, swollen
ankles and other leg disorders associated with venous insufficiency.
In the human
body, the arteries, capillaries and veins are continuously active to keep
an ideal circulation. Blood returns to the heart through the veins. Considering
that the legs are furthest below heart level, blood flow is most difficult
to maintain, especially when it is flowing upward. A system of one-directional
valves in the leg veins assist the blood flow back to the heart with each
beat. However, after many years of use this complex system of valves eventually
malfunctions or slows down, causing the blood to “pool” or back-up in
the legs causing venous insufficiency.
There are
other factors which lead to varicose veins, heredity, sitting or standing
for long periods of time, and pregnancy. . The term "Support Hosiery"
is often used to describe hosiery simply because these generic hosiery
exert some slight pressure on the legs. However, such pressure must be
gradient and compressed in order to be qualified as a "true" support stocking.
Furthermore, in order to have a beneficial result the graduated compression
must be sufficient to assist the flow of blood up the leg.

and venous disorders.
Fit
Therapy™ graduated Compression is a must if traveling on long
flights! Clinical studies prove that our products will help prevent common
ankle swelling, will improve the circulation in your legs and will help
reduce the chance of blood clots and embolisms that can develop in the
leg during long flights also known now as “Economy Class Syndrome”, or
D.V.T. (deep vein thrombosis), which can be Fatal!
Anyone can
develop blood clots, certain people are more vulnerable, including pregnant
women, people who are overweight, smokers and those with coronary artery
diseases and certain blood conditions. Those with higher risks should
consult their physicians before flying. Generally, the clots are absorbed
into the bloodstream. If they aren’t, physicians can treat them with drugs
that dissolve the clots and prevent others from forming and, occasionally,
surgery. If a clot reaches the lung, emergency medical assistance is required.
Preventative Measures Meanwhile, doctors recommend the following precautions
for all passengers: Get up and walk about at least once an hour.
While seated,
flex your ankles and move your feet around to stimulate blood circulation.
Remain hydrated. Consider wearing Graduated Compression Support stockings
such as Fit Therapy™ to keep blood from settling in the
veins in your legs. Most of the deaths that have occurred resulting from
“Economy Class Syndrome” would have been prevented
if the person would have know to wear Graduated Compression Stockings.
